Summer Camp Lead Counsellor

Start Date: June 22 – September 4, 2026 (11 weeks)

Location: Vancouver, BC (in-person)

Hours: 35 hours/week

Wage: $25/hour (potentially Eco Canada supported)

ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Summer Camp Lead Counsellor is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and delivery of Petit Architect’s Architecture & Sustainable Design Summer Camps. This role combines facilitation, mentorship, and on-site coordination to ensure a high-quality, safe, and inspiring camp experience for children.

Lead Counsellors supervise Assistant Counsellors, support program delivery, and act as the primary on-site contact for families and Petit Architect staff and volunteers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Leadership

  • Lead daily architecture, design, and sustainability-focused camp activities.

  • Deliver lesson plans aligned with Petit Architect’s pedagogy and values.

  • Demonstrate tools, techniques, and design processes safely and clearly.

  • Encourage creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and support Camp Assistant Counsellors and volunteers.

  • Model positive guidance, inclusive teaching practices, and professionalism.

  • Support scheduling, transitions, and daily camp flow.

Camper Experience & Safety

  • Foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive camp environment.

  • Ensure proper supervision and safe tool use at all times.

  • Respond calmly and appropriately to behavioural or safety concerns.

Communication & Coordination

  • Act as the on-site point of contact for families.

  • Communicate daily updates, incidents, or concerns to management.

  • Support outdoor lunch breaks, games and design walks.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with children in camps, education, or youth programs

  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Strong interest in architecture, environmental design, sustainability, or STEAM education.

  • Confident communicator with strong classroom management skills.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Criminal Record Check (required prior to start date).

  • First Aid Certificate (or willing to complete)

  • Available for mandatory training week June 22

  • Available for the full contract period; 1-week holiday may be negotiated in advance

Summer Camp Coordinator: Outreach & Education Assistant

Start Date: June 15 – September 4, 2026 (12 weeks)

Location: Vancouver, BC (in-person, multiple locations)

Hours: 35 hours/week

Wage: $20/hour + mileage (potentially Venture for Canada supported)

ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Summer Camp Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and logistics of Petit Architect’s summer camp programs across multiple locations, as well as outreach efforts. This role bridges operations, communications, and on-the-ground program support, ensuring camps run smoothly.

This position is ideal for a highly organized, proactive individual interested in education, program coordination, and creative entrepreneurship.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Coordination

  • Support scheduling and coordination of camps, instructors, and locations.

  • Assist with registration management, attendance tracking, and consent forms.

  • Coordinate supplies, materials, and equipment across sites.

  • Support daily operations during camp hours as needed.

Team & Logistics Support

  • Support Lead Counsellors and Assistant Counsellors across locations.

  • Assist with setup, takedown, and transportation of materials.

  • Track basic program data and contribute to end-of-summer reporting.

Outreach & Events

  • Support community outreach activities, partnerships, and events.

  • Represent Petit Architect professionally in public-facing settings.

  • Support camp communications, updates, and reminders.

  • Assist with documenting camp activities (photo/video with consent).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Experience in coordination, administration, education, or program delivery.

  • Comfortable working with children, families, and educators.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Criminal Record Check (required prior to start date).

  • Flexibility to travel between locations

  • Available for the full contract period; 1-week holiday may be negotiated in advance

Summer Camp Assistant Counsellor

Hours: 32.5 hours/week (standard roles) / 38.5 hours/week (1 role includes studio-based after-care support)

Wage: $18/hour (potentially Eco Canada supported)

ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Summer Camp Assistant Counsellor supports the daily delivery of Petit Architect’s Architecture & Sustainable Design Summer Camps. This hands-on role is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in architecture, environmental studies, education, or the arts.

Assistant Counsellors work closely with Lead Counsellors to support campers, facilitate activities, and maintain a safe and positive learning environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Lead Counsellors with daily camp activities, workshops, and projects.

  • Supervise campers during indoor, outdoor, and transition periods.

  • Support hands-on tasks including drawing, cutting, gluing, and model-making.

  • Help set up, organize, and clean up materials and studio spaces.

  • Participate in field trips and outdoor design walks.

  • Foster creativity, teamwork, and respectful behaviour.

  • Support after-care programming (for designated role).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with children or youth (camp, education, childcare, or volunteering).

  • Interest in architecture, sustainability, design, or creative education.

  • Reliable, enthusiastic, and collaborative.

  • Comfortable working in an active, hands-on environment.

We are looking for volunteers (age 15+) to support our workshops, camps, and classes in and around Vancouver.

 TYPE OF WORK:

  • Volunteer

  • Half day to a whole week, up to you!

DATES NEEDED & LOCATION:

  • Pro d days all year round

  • Winter, spring, and summer camps

  • After school during the school year

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work with a sense of enthusiasm

  • Prior experience in working with children is an asset
